Around and About .....

There's something for everyone in Snowdonia,  far too much to summarise here!

Just 5 minutes drive away is the village of Llandanwg with a lovely beach, perfect for rock pooling. Just behind the dunes is the lovely little Y Maes cafe and the exquisite 12C St Tanwg church. Harlech beach is a spectacular, unspoilt, three mile stretch of golden sand that is never crowded and an excellent walk at any time of day but particularly near sunset. If it’s raining, visit  the Llanfair Slate Caverns also 5 minutes away, and just below the caverns is the Children’s Farm Park - with lots of under cover activities that should keep the little ones amused for a few hours.

There are plenty of walks for every ability starting from the farm - Bryn & Lizzie are happy to advise. A must whilst you're here is to take a stroll to the top of Moel Sengl and be rewarded with unbeatable 360 views.

Though small, Harlech itself has plenty to offer- the famous castle, the stunning  Royal St David’s links golf course, several cafes, restaurants and takeaways, a fantastic ice cream shop and many small local shops.

Portmeirion & Porthmadog are within easy reach by car or train. Porthmadog has shops catering for most of your needs from Tesco's etc to a very well stocked caravan & camping shop. The Ffestiniog steam railway runs between Porthmadog & Blaenau Ffestiniog offering a train journey through spectacular countryside  - taking a route away from the roads.

Anglesey is just over an hours drive away -  with lovely beaches, the Butterfly Palace and Anglesey Sea Zoo for the young at heart to the impressive Plas Newydd which amongst other treasures, houses the worlds largest single canvas painting - a whopping 58 feet long by Rex Whistler.

Snowdon, which is prominently visible from the farm, is about 50 minutes drive along a very scenic road.  Some of the routes to the summit are suitable for children who are used to walking but there is also the option of taking the mountain railway to the top!

North Wales is justifiably famous for adventure pursuits and the North Wales Zip World locations are within easy reach of us here, along with the many other outdoor adventure enterprises.

Cyclists are frequent visitors to Merthyr Farm with Route 8 - Lôn Las Cymru (North) - passing the farm gates and the outstanding Coed y Brenin just 30 minutes away.
